Reason number 172 why I love GE Theatre:

It's been quite a while since an update, and Elisabeth says I need to update more often, so since Elisabeth is God, I'll see what I can do. ^_^ Perhaps a new chapter of Rocky would be good too...I'll get to that eventually, I promise.

There are two main things to update the world about. First off is Memorial Day. I don't usually consider this to be a big holiday, just a nice excuse not to do anything. This year, Raspberry Fusion was invited to sing at the Elmhurst parade, so we all got our butts up far too early, decked out in red white and blue, and moseyed on over to Elmhurst. I suppose we didn't really mosey, we actually cruised to Elmhurst, considering we were in a "far too cool for me to be in" red Pontiac '67 convertible. That is the car we were riding in during the parade too, so I felt rather hip. Everything was going great, there were a ton of people there and they were all cheering and clapping for us. We sang acappella versions of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and some DooWop songs. Right about the middle of the parade though, our car exploded. Seriously, it was very frightening. I guess what happened is that a plastic connector that was holding two radiator hoses together burst simultaneously at both ends, which isn't a huge deal. But considering the amount of smoke coming from the hood and the spurting of liquid all over the place, I was terrified. I thought we were going to die. Once the smoke died down though, we realized it wasn't a huge deal and Chris, Dawn, and a fabulous passerby named Dave pushed the car the rest of the way while Jessie steered and the 4 of us kept singing. It was quite an experience.

The second major exciting event was the MATCHBOX20 CONCERT!!! WOOT!!! Elisabeth picked me up and we set off, promptly deciding that Peoria is way too far away, and she should know how to use cruise control. We got to Peoria eventually and parked, and then walked around aimlessly looking for a place to eat. Settling on some grill place, we walked in only to find that we were far underdressed and unfortunately, this is not the burger king we were hoping for. Once sitting down, though, we decided that everyone else was far overdressed for what the place was, and Peoria needs a life. Good pizza, though. So we went back to the Civic Center, bought t-shirts, smuggled in my camera, and waited for the show. Maroon 5 came on first and was very cool. I greatly enjoy them, and I enjoy even more that at Best Buy, I bought their CD for $7.99. Plus, I call the lead singer. He's mine. Even if his name isn't Johnny. Sugar Ray was next, who I like but Elisabeth wasn't particularly thrilled about. They had a fun little set-up, with a fullblown Mexican bar, including gigantic chili lights. Mark McGrath didn't look nearly as hot as usual, but he came in to the crowd, at which point everyone started screaming hysterically and rushing to the front. Like normal people, Elisabeth and I decided to admire from afar. Well I admired, Elisabeth sat there and laughed at everyone. After ending with "Fly", we ran to the bathroom and came back to our seats, only to find that matchbox20 would probably be setting up for at least 20 more minutes. I took a nap, and finally, our boys came on. They were phenomenal. They had the coolest light design ever (LOL, is this what theatre majors notice?), Rob Thomas is way hot, and they did all of their best songs. Elisabeth was happy to hear "Downfall", and I was happy to hear "Disease", even though of course they were going to play that one. They came back and did an encore with a few more songs, were cute again, and then Elisabeth and I left to attempt to beat the crowd. This would have worked, except we had to pass the PCC again because we took a wrong turn and got a bit lost on one way streets. We stopped in Normal to get gas, briefly visit home, and meet an odd man in the BP, and then we started the long treck home. We made it fun though, by thinking up bizarre yet humorous gelogy pick-up lines. Elisabeth's best was by far, "Nice rocks, wanna fuck?" and if I do say so myself, my best was, "Ya know, I hear that felsic men like you have explosive eruptions..." Once home, I slept. I love sleep.

Besides that, I've been babysitting and waiting for the rain to stop. Tonight, I'm playing Bunko and hoping to win money. I need money.

*rolls eyes* I just typed a rather large update, then my blogger died. So we'll start over and cross our fingers. First of all...

Hey, guess
what? I'm a--

I'm a Pink Yoshi!

What
color Yoshi are you? Come take the quiz!

I would agree with this, except they say that I might not be a girl. *looks down pants* No, I'm definitely a girl. Either that, or an incredibly poorly endowed male with elephantitis-effected balls on my chest. Wow, what an image...

If all goes well in my Bennigan's interview today, I'll have 3 jobs over the summer! Woot! Simmon's 3 times a week, Bennigan's around 20 hours a week, and another babysitting job. I met a woman yesterday who needs a babysitter for her 1 year old son while she's getting back to work. She's very nice, and the kid's adorable. She's paying $8 to start, and then $10 once she gets a job and needs me more regularly. That's incredible! I'm thrilled. Hopefully, I'll have enough money by the end of the summer not only to have payed off my dad, but also to have some in my savings account for at least first semester.

And yes, Charleen got me addicted to Sports Night. I'm enjoying it so very much that I'm seriously considering buying my own box set, because really, I'm sure THAT'S not expensive...*rolls eyes* Leeny, my favorite episode thus far is "Dear Louise", where Jeremy's writing the letter and everyone goes the "El Perro Fumando" and Natalie and Jeremy FINALLY KISS! (I love Jeremy. I'd marry his nerdy little ass in a minute.)

MASSIVE UPDATING HAS COMMENCED! Mainly, to avoid cleaning my room. So we have new quotes in almost all of the categories, and a new rant. Woot and a half.

I'm suddenly feeling very lonely. I realized that this morning, when I thought about the e-mail I sent last night and went, "What the hell was I thinking?!"

*backs up to explain*

OK, so, last night I was thinking about all that I had to leave or at least put on hold at ISU during the summer. And I realized that if not for summer, I'd probably still be with Ben because we wouldn't have rushed in to things. And even if Ben and I weren't together I'd be able to pursue at least a friendship with Erik, because my feelings for him became increasingly stronger the closer it got to the end of the semester. Last night, I sent him a pointless and rambling e-mail for no apparent reason, discussing the stupidest topics possible, and then, at the end, basically saying "Oh, by the way, I had a bit of a crush on you. What do you think?" *smacks forhead* WHY am I so stupid?

I think I'm just trying to reach out to ISU people so my friendships don't fall apart. I hate that. It seems like whenever I'm apart from people, I continue to grow and others don't grow with me. I feel it with some of my East friends that I just have no desire to hang out with anymore. I feel it with my friends that have moved away. Most strikingly and most recently is the whole Lisa and Allison thing - I mean, we were so very close, and then a week after winter break, both of them hate me. How's that for true friends? I know that Ben won't call me over the summer, even though I gave him my home number. And that's OK. I'll call him when I get back in August, and we'll see what happens. We'll see if Erik writes me back. Elisabeth and I talk all the time, I'm not worried about her at all. And I'm not worried about Anna or Amanda - I love them both, but it's also nice to get a break from people you've seen every day for so long, ya know? And I know I'll see them all the time next year. Jeff's in 2 of my classes. It's the people that I'm not guaranteed to see - Nick, Erik, Caitlin, Dan, and of course Kellie will be in NY. And I don't want to lose their friendships.

Part of me says that everything will be fine. I mean, Iain and I are still so close, and I don't even know him in real life! But part of me is scared to death of losing everyone. I like my ISU people, and the person that I am down there. I don't want to lose them...or myself.

Fact: I owe my father $1,319.
Fact: I have 12 weeks left of summer.
Fact: The Simmi's pay me roughly $100 a week.
Fact: $100 X 12 weeks = $1200.
Ultimate Conclusion: I desperately need another job.

Unfortunately, the job hunt goes not so well. Damn the economy, no one's hiring.
Waldenbooks: Not hiring.
B. Dalton: Not hiring.
Olive Garden: Not hiring.
Joe's Crab Shack: Will begin hiring in 5 weeks. (!)
Bennigan's: Better hire me!
Bath and Body Works: Better hire me!

So really, I've got two more places to hound. Bennigan's is my best bet - the lady was really nice yesterday, and I have to go back to sign my application (they do it all weird and electronic) and to interview. I know they're hiring servers, and I can't imagine they wouldn't hire me, I have restaurant experience up the wazoo.

God, I'm broke.

Ya know, updating regularly is totally overrated. Here's a quick rundown of my life - I'm now 19, I'm still job hunting, my room's almost completely put together, I get my grades in two days, and I desperately need to lose weight.

This is my world over the summer.

As the end of the year approaches, I've begun to realize how much I've really learned this year. So for all you great people entering college here's some advice that will apply if you're theatre, or coming to ISU, or me, or just dumb sometimes.

*Learn to enjoy caffeine.
*If the names "Cynthia Huff" or "Den Patten" appear anywhere on your schedule, DROP THE CLASS.
*If the name "Brent" appears as your Geo Lab TA, DO NOT DROP THE CLASS.
*Go to improv mafia every week!
*Work your butt off in all theatre classes.
*Work your butt off in all classes.
*You know how much you hated Subway at home? Yeah. Change that.
*ALWAYS have your keys and ID with you.
*If you enjoy the sport of ping-pong, do not watch Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
*If you enjoy musical theatre, do not watch The Wiz.
*Always buy more double sided-tape than you think you'll need!
*Don't slack. Go above your own expectations on every assignment.
*Know how to share.
*Spend your first few weeks in airport lounge introducing yourself.
*Reinforce your slippers.
*Try not to fall in love every two days, it only makes life difficult.
*Whenever possible, purchase phallic shaped cactii.
*Answering the Parrot's Echo phone with a dialect or amusing quip is funny, as long as you know your boss isn't on the other line.
*Practice your 4-Square skills before playing with Pete Z, Matt D, Erik D, or Jess S.
*If Vrooman has shrimp, eat at Vrooman.
*If Vrooman has anything else, do not eat at Vrooman.
*Don't leave juice bottles on your bed!
*Audition for every show, no matter how small.
*Know what you want in a friend.
*Find it.
*Don't hit on straight women or gay men, it only gets you in trouble.
*And, above all else...HAVE FUN!!!

What am I missing? Leave it in my comments...*love to my ISU people*

According to what I will probably get in my classes, my cumulative GPA will be a 3.73. I know that's not bad at all, and yet, there's something in me that knows I should have done better, even though I really did do my best. I hate it when my best isn't good enough.

And just because it's funny, here's my favorite purity test ever...

Your Ultimate Purity Score Is...
CategoryYour Score Average
Self-Lovin'93.3%
Never taken out of the packaging
58.9%
Shamelessness95.2%
Has yet to see self in mirror
74.8%
Sex Drive 97.4%
The Pope is envious
72.7%
Straightness48.2%
Done the nasty, but not creatively
37.4%
Gayness 96.4%
Repressed, are we?
75.9%
Fucking Sick96.5%
Refreshingly normal
86%
You are 85.17% pure
Average Score: 67%

How on earth am I so incredibly pure? ESPECIALLY with the straightness and gayness. Oh well, I find it amusing that the pope is envious of me.

And now, on to writing.

Nothing heals anymore, and I don't know why. There are blisters and cuts and sores all over my body, and they've all turned into giant, bleeding craters. Not even scabbing over. What's wrong with me?

And now, it's national "pack up your stuff" day in my nation, which Eric has named "Julie'ssideoftheroomia". Ha.
